I didn’t set out to become a politician. I’m a water and climate scientist, educator, and longtime member of this community who became increasingly concerned by a political system that too often rewards partisan loyalty, wealthy interests, and winning the next election over solving problems and serving the public. I'm running because I believe public service can be different. We need leaders who will ask hard questions, listen carefully, be honest about tradeoffs, and work across political divides. As an Independent, I’m running to help rebuild trust in our democracy, make life more affordable, and ensure that the decisions we make today leave our communities and the places we love stronger for the next generation.
Housing, healthcare, food, water, and energy costs are putting pressure on families. Patrick supports practical policies that make it easier for people to build stable, healthy lives in Cache Valley.
Utah needs a more honest and forward-looking approach to water. Patrick supports conservation, demand reduction, agricultural and municipal innovation, river health, and serious action to help Great Salt Lake recover.
Cache Valley is growing quickly. Patrick believes growth should strengthen communities, protect open space, reduce traffic and sprawl, and make housing more attainable.
Patrick supports reducing energy waste, expanding local clean energy, modernizing the grid, and avoiding long-term fossil fuel lock-in that raises costs and pollution risks.
Patrick supports teachers, students, parents, and strong public schools. He believes education policy should be grounded in trust, respect, adequate funding, and local needs.
Patrick believes voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around. He supports fair maps, transparent government, ballot initiative rights, and reforms that make government more responsive to the people.
